"Whereas, the employees
of the School Department have suffered reductions in salaries
from 4 per cent to 20 per cent, and
"Whereas, the employees of the other departments of the city
have received reductions of 3 per cent to 13 per cent, and
"Whereas, the Atlanta Public School Teachers Association
fought long and bitterly against reductions in excess of those
given other city employees, and
"Whereas, the savings of one and one-half million dollars in the School Department during the past two years has been taken chiefly from the salary accounts of the employees,
"Whereas, the one and one-half million dollars saved in the School Department during the past two years represents substantially the greatest part of the economies effected by the city government, thus placing on the employees of the Board of Education the greatest burden of the so-called economy program of the city acministrative officials:
"Therefore, be it resolved that the Atlanta Public School Teachers Association protests against the exorbitant reductions the employees of the School Department have been forced to take, and
"Be it further resolved that the mayor, the general council and the Board of Education be requested to take the necessary steps to right these wrongs, and
"Be it further resolved that the mayor, the general council and the Board of Education be furnished with copies of these, resolutions."
