Letter to State Attorney General Eugene Cook:

"As you know both of us are personally and officially committed to using all state resources and facilities necessary to oppose the insidious efforts now under way by ignorant and ill-informed people to mix Negro and white children in our public schools. During my campaign I made it plain that mixing the races in public schools would not be permitted during my administration. This promise will be kept at any and all hazards and expense."
