MISC. NOTES:

1. Moststudents are required to take the Georgia High School Graduation Test in their
junior year (March 2002). A passing score is necessary to obtain a diploma. The Social Studies
section of the test will include questions relating to the QCC standards stated above.

2. Students will be informed of their academic performance in U.S. History by weekly posted grades
from Mr. Sartor’s computer. Your textbook number is your student I.D. Take your textbook home
and keep it at home, and read it every night. To receive credit for your textbook at the end of the
year, or when you exit the course, you must turn in the textbook you were issued.

3. Inappropriate classroom conduct may result in a request for a parent conference.

4. Classwork grades are based on class participation, written assignments, video observations
and discussions, quizzes, simulations, and other forms of academic activities. Daily homework
assignments--readings & questions--from the text will be assigned and are due each Friday.

5. Parents/guardians are encouraged to contact the teacher if they have any questions about their
student’s performance in American History. Arrangements can be made for Student Progress
Reports to be mailed/faxed/E-mailed to parents on a regular basis if requested by the parent/guardian.

6. Students and parents/guardians are reminded that the major goal of this course is to ensure that the
student performs at his/her highestacademic level. Students arestrongly encouraged to prepare
and complete all class work and homework assignments, and to study and prepare for all tests and
exams.

7. The teacher'sAfter-School Hours are Monday, 3:45--4:30pm, or by appointment. Students
are encouraged to attend after-school tutorials as needed. Parents/guardians are also
encouraged to attend after-school parent conferences at their convenience (please
schedule in advance. Please call 404/870-0851 to schedule.)

Every student is strongly encouraged to obtain an Email address. Free addresses can be obtained
from yahoo.com or hotmail.com. Class reading documents are available to students and/or
parents who join the US History Fall 2001 Punch web group at www.punchwebgroups.com. If you
would like to join (it's free) Email sartor@gradyhighschool.org. You will then receive a User ID and
password.
