YEARBOOK ADVISOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
The yearbook advisor is responsible
for planning and implementing the general organization and activities
of the yearbook staff. Activities included in this are:
** entry of the yearbook in competitions
** book production schedules and activities
** syllabus development
** curriculum for preparation and follow through of book production
** plan for and participate in workshops
A second area of activity for the yearbook advisor is to plan
and implement fund raising. The advisor should expect to oversee
students efforts to raise approximately $25,000 per year through:
** book sales
** business and personal advertisement sales
** other fund raising opportunities (yard sales, old yearbook
sales, business contributions, etc.)
The advisor is expected to utilize appropriate classroom management
techniques to keep students focused on planning for and production
of the book.
Collaboration is critical to the position of yearbook advisor.
The advisor should be prepared to work closely with:
** design consultant/advisor (Mr. Nicolson)
** Walsworth Publishing Company
** Bryn Alan Photography
** the principal and vice-principal (about photo arrangements)
** faculty and staff (for underclass photos, photo fund raisers,
etc.)
** calendar coordinator
The advisor must be prepared to fill in parts of the book when
necessary. The advisor should be prepared to:
** take photographs
** edit copy
** help design templates
** correct layout/design mistakes
The yearbook advisor should be capable of using the following:
** Microsoft Word 5.0 or higher
** Pagemaker 5.0 or higher
** basic camera skills
** working knowledge of Photoshop 3.0 or higher
** Microsoft Excel (for tracking sales)
