Recently, the Pauline Kael of rock 'n roll submitted a Pavement concert review to this site. Somebody named Noreen Gilbert responded with her disturbing spanking fantasy involving Pavement. Reader response was fierce and frequent. Okay, so reader response was the following message:

Who is Noreen Gilbert and why do I feel like she's some sort of porno star? Honestly, spanking Steven Malkmus' buttocks until it is red is a REALLY SICK THING TO THINK OF! I bet it's all hairy and gross. Can't he just find another job so we can be rid of him? Maybe he can start a new career as a puppeteer in a darkened theatre so we don't have to see him, hear him, or even think of his buttocks. Ms. Gilbert, get a life!
