When I was sixteen years old I went up a mountain with a friend called Mt. Baldy. It was called that because the top of the mountain was covered with snow and white. I was driving my fathers car which was big and fast. We went up the mountain because we thought there was a party happening that night at a cabin up there. We found no one at the cabin so headed down the mountain. I was driving and was going way to fast. At one point I lost control of the car and it was swerving down the road so that the headlights of the car at one point pointed off into the black space of the night sky over the edge of the cliff. I then over compensated so the car pointed towards the wall of the side of the mountain. This went on for a distance until I came to a stop at the edge of the cliff. I was numb with shock thinking it was over when the car tipped downward and began to roll down the cliff. The car rolled for a space until it hit something and flipped up side down with me and my friend on the roof of the inside of the car as if wrestling. It rolled several times. I must have been thrown from the car through a window and had a momentary lapse of consciousness. I found myself laying probably half way down a long steep cliff laying on my back looking up at the stars. There was a creek that made the sound of running water. It was very still up in the mountains. I was injured quite badly and did not attempt to move. I was in no pain. The stars looked like heaven and at some point I thought I will not live. I knew I was going to meet God. It was just a matter of time before I die as I lay there and then I had a vision. It was like a ghost leaving my body through my eyes. It had the appearance of a cloud or vapor and was white and transparent. It had the images of people I had loved in my life from my earliest years up to the present time. These were pictures of peoples faces. It was as if on 35mm film with one frame after another appearing in order from my youngest years to the present with the faces of people I had loved. I had a feeling of tremendous peace. Never had I felt peace like this before this time or since. It is difficult to describe this kind of peace except to say that it was rapturous. My friend climbed up the mountain. I wanted him to stay with me but he kept on going eventually flagging down a car and getting help. A rescue team came and took me to the hospital. I had to have my right leg amputated but I survived never to be the same again.
