Ardishar-
It is pointless to further argue over how this started, who is culpable, etc. Yes, we are guilty of ignoring your diplomats in Constantinople in both 785 and 791 AD. Our anger over Zoroastrian meddling clouded our judgment. From then on, our goal was in supporting Azerbaijani independence not your total destruction. The lost trade revenue alone is making this more and more pointless with each passing year. With that in mind here are 4 different proposals to help draw us out of this conflict.
1. All Azer regions conquered by Persia are kept by Persia. Byzantine region of Edessa is returned to Eastern Rome. These Azer regions remain Orthodox Christian: Georgia, Shirvan, Urmia, Lazica and Armenia. That is, no religious missionaries from either the Church of Christ or the ZCR. Azerbaijan will be Persian, practicing a minority religion. The crux of this is the agreement of your Church elders to adhere to this treaty. They have been less than trustful in the past, to say the least.
2. Since Eastern Rome has lost its buffer states and you now have no direct northern neighbor, we propose a payment from each of us to the Crimea to facilitate their survival. Sums to be negotiated. Border treaties can also be drawn with the Crimeans if you fear a direct northern border again.
3. The 3rd proposal is the most radical for both parties. We the Governing body of the Eastern Empire, propose a return of the Armenian Kingdom, lost in 510 AD to the Sassanids and Byzantine States. Both of our nations are culpable in the destruction of Imereti I’s Kingdom. Our proposed reunified Armenia would comprise the regions of: Armenia, Edessa, Carhae, Aleppo, Cilicia, Vaspurakan, Taman, Cappadocia, Lazica and Abasigia. Azerbaijan and its Eastern territories would remain under Persian control. Byzantium would retain the island of Cyprus and Persia would retain Lebanon and Syria; all territories conquered from the 1st Armenian Kingdom. This Kingdom could be the culmination of Marcus Said’s dream. Remember the bastard son of Azer, born of an Orthodox mother and a father of the ZCR? He hoped in vain for a harmonious Christian & Zoroastrian kingdom where both faiths were practiced without persecution.
4. The final proposal has the most points of contention, keeping our Churches out of state affairs. The majority of this most recent conflict is the Zoroastrian Church leader’s fault. Both of our Churches have much room to expand in the world without harassing one another. Neutral regions are out of our realm of control let’s attempt to keep the Churches within their borders.
All of these are open to discussion and combining elements of each to suit both of our needs. I suggest we meet in a neutral country with all involved parties in attendance. Rome, East Rome, yourself and representatives of both Churches along with Crimean representation since the last dying remnants of Azerbaijan are what’s truly at stake here. How is Marseilles in France as a possibility? I have been in contact with Meroveus on the possibility of hosting a peace summit.
We are awaiting immediate response so as to facilitate the situation in Lebanon.
