Nearing the End...

For twelve years Shortfat and I moved around from place to place. Originally I had to keep him at boarding stables. Later, I was lucky enough to rent houses which had property that I could keep him on. Finally, he had his own farm. Here he is running to meet the big girls next door!

Shortfat moved in July 19, 1999. Although it is not much of a barn, he was thrilled to have one. He loved his stall, and was free to go in and out as he pleased. The following winter was the best winter he ever spent. He had a cozy stall, tons of hay, and great food. His weight was incredible, compared to previous years when he would drop so much during the winter despite everything I tried. In November, my family from Pennsylvania came to see the new farm and got to meet Shortfat for the first time.
Shortfat was a perfect angel, and let my nephews (all three of them!) and my sister-in-law ride. They had never ridden before. He was a saint through it all.
