Billy Franklin Short, 59, of Louisa, died Thursday, Dec. 22 at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington.

Mr. Short was born Oct 22, 1935 in Louisa, a son of Mamie Moore Short and the late W. R. (Bill) Short. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Short Larkin.

He was a member of Louisa Free Will Baptist Church for 45 years. Apperson Masonic Lodge #195 and a U.S. Army veteran. He was currently a teacher at Lawrence County High School and a former teacher at Fort Gay High School and worked for the Kentucky Postal Service for several years.

The funeral was conducted Sunday, Dec 25 at Louisa Free Will Baptist Church by Dr. James A. Hayes. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Treva Short of Louisa; a son John Short of Louisa; a daughter, Dwana Gauze of Louisa; two sisters, Gloria Billups of South Point, Ohio and Carole Short Yetter of Zanesville, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Laydee Lynn and Brittany Short and Larissa Gauze.
