Lawrence served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He entered service on October 3, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio and was separated on January 9, 1953 from Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. Lawrence worked as a Military Policeman #1677 and was promoted to the rank of Corporal. He served with the HQ FEC 8105 AU in Okinawa. His military discharge indicates that he was 5' 7 1/2" tall and weighed 136 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. His service number was RA15-293-091. He was awarded the Occupation Medal (Japan) with clasp. Lawrence married Joyce Marie Ragan on May 11, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland before he was separated from the service. Joyce was born in Wichata Falls, Texas to Joe Earl Ragan and Gaile Almond Hammock. Lawrence and Joyce had 6 children: Twin boys born in 1951, one boy died at birth and the other twin died the following day; Glenn Earl born in Baltimore; Serena Lee born in Baltimore; Larry Ray born in Baltimore; Franklin Lee born in Louisa. After his divorce, Lawrence married Mary Lewis. They had 3 children: twins Carmella W. and Mary Kay born in Dundalk, Maryland; Lawrence Wray Jr. born 1959 in Dundalk who died December 12, 1992. He separated from Mary, but before his divorce was final, and met Thelma Maynard. There is no evidence that Lawrence and Thelma were ever married. Lawrence died on December 4, 1972 in Louisa.
