Questions for Reflection and Discussion
1. What is the picture of romantic love painted by modern songs, television, movies, and literature? (Name some specific titles and identify some specific assertions.) How (specifically) is this different than the Christian version?
2. If love is not a feeling (but is an act of will) and if love calls upon us to extend ourselves for the benefit of another (which would seem to mean that there is an unlimited number of eligible recipients), why is it sometimes so hard to find someone to love? Phrasing this another way, can it be that romatic love can follow rather than precede agape-love? Or, perhaps, romantic love can be more easily engaged when the heart is filled with agape-love?
