Publisher's Statement - The Book of MerlynT. H. White |
| The Book of Merlyn
was written by White during WWII and was supposed to be
the conclusion of the 5 book series The Once And
Future King. King was published in 1958 but
without the 5th book. White didn't see the proofs of Merlyn after the complete manuscript was submitted for publication in 1941 and because he made corrections once his work was in type, the manuscript was not in final form when it reached the publisher (Ace). Only minimal editing was necessary. The two episodes in The Book of Merlyn - Arthur as an ant and goose - appear out of context in The Sword in the Stone as published in the tetralogy.
