Be Gay Awhile!

By Elva White

September 12, 1948

Laugh! Have fun,
Be gay awhile
The Trouble in your mind
Will scar a fainter furrow on your brow
If you will smile.

Laugh! Have fun,
Be gay awhile
The sorrow in your heart
Will not be mirrored clearly in your eyes
If you will smile.

Laugh! Have fun,
Be gay awhile
The pain within your heart
Will ease with time
If you will smile,
But smile right now!
