This invocation was written by a very special friend, Barbara Van Duyne. I met Barbara through a Unitarian Universalist friend from Raleigh, N.C. Over the years, my sweetheart Chuck and I have shared time with her in her beauiful home - it's a place I always look forward to visiting. Going to Barbara's house is like 'coming home'. It's a haven from the fast pace of every day life where I can rest mind, body and spirit. I also love spending time chatting with Barbara as she's a 'kindred spirit'. It's always fun to share new books, new ideas, and catch up on what's been going on since our last visit. Barbara is an inspiration to me in may ways and I thank Spirit for allowing our paths to cross once again. Barbara told me she wrote this prayer as part of a workshop (or exersize) on creating prayer. She spoke it before dinner one evening when my Mother and I visited her home and Barbara agreed to allow me to add it to this archive. It's so wonderful to have a bit of Barbara's 'light' shine from this website. Thanks, Barbara, for sharing your prayer. Blessings to you! Candle Invocation - Barbara Van Duyne -------------------------------------- I light this flame to remind me of the common bond I share with all the living creatures of the earth. May this small sun warm my heart....... renew my spirit...... and bring me courage to be all that I was meant to be.
