Moonheart
by Charles de Lint
Can you imagine a portal to another world being right in your back yard?. And ancient artifacts becoming an active link to the past that can interweave your life with mythical beings, elves, and bards? It all happens in the enchanting tale of Moonheart. Charles de Lint casts a spell with this wonderful tale that will hold you tight till the last page is turned. Sarah Kendall stumbles across a leather pouch one day while cleaning out boxes in the back room of her uncle Jamie Tams antique store where Sarah works. In the pouch she finds such treasures as the claw of a small animal, a bundle of feathers tied together with leather, and kernels of corn. But the strangest objects of all are the flat disk made of bone with mysterious carvings on each side, and a ball of clay, when further examined, holds a gold ring with the same symbols as on the bone disk. Sarah also finds a small, detailed painting of a two men sitting in a woodland glade sharing a pipe - an Indian and a Celtic bard. And interestingly enough, one is wearing around his neck the exact bone disk that Sarah found in the pouch. As Sarah looks at the detail of the painting, she suddenly has the sensation that the store around her has vanished and has been replaced by the forest in the picture. Quickly, Sarah looks up from the painting to find the store still there, but the sensation of the strange event lingers for days. This begins the adventure of Moonheart, a book that once you start, will have a very hard time putting down! [ BUY @ AMAZON.COM ]
