July, 2011 Update: Thanks to everyone that contributed financially to support keeping Stardancer's Wheel of the Year website up and running for another year. A special thanks to Beth Owl's Daughter who surprised me by rallying the Pagan community to assist with this cause.

The ritual of casting a Circle has been performed for thousands of years by various types of groups. The signifigance of this symbol, which has no beginning, and no ending, creates a closed, safe environment in which to celebrate life, discuss issues openly, or perform magic. An important part of the casting of the Circle is known as 'Calling the Directions'. This event, is the request to the magnetic directions (East, South, West, and North), along with elements and dieties that are associated with those directions (Fire, Water, Air, Earth) to join and protect the participants of the Circle while they do their work. Before the casting of the Circle is complete, we honor 'Center', bringing together all the elements and energies that "ground" us and help us to direct our focus towards the ritual that is about to begin.

I have always been fascinated at the variety of works that have been spoken during this event. Some simple and direct, others written like poetry, but all very beautiful and powerful. It has been my dream for quite some time to save these words somewhere were they could be accessed by many and used over and over again.
