The FarCast Circle of Crones - Yule, 1996 Aunty Flanna lives in Anchorage, Alaska Morgan-Stardancer lives in Benbrook, Texas Mama Bear lives in Raleigh, North Carolina Jani Ni Mhorrigu lives in London, England *************************************************************************** Mamma Bear from the East: Hail, Guardians of the East! We hear your voice in the chill wind rattling through bare trees and whispering through the dry grass. In the cold, crisp night air we feel your touch. You show us your face in the countless stars that sparkle in the clear night sky. We greet you, O Powers of Air, and invite you to join us on this, the longest night. We ask for clarity of thought and vision as we prepare for the return of light. The spiral spreads its way out bound To reach lands not in winter's ground. Outward, ever outward grow. Into the sun, from lands of snow. Morgan from the South: Hail Guardians of the South, Whose fire brings new warmth to us this day! Hearken to us now, As we call you who have kept us Warm through the long, dark season. We have come through those flickering orange tongues And found ourselves purified. Your sacred flames have brought us hope And forged in us a new strength. Salamanders, dance for us in your firey realm! Bridget, stand beside us and spark our fires of life, Our fires of creation. Be with us, we ask, As we celebrate the return of our Lord, He who brings the sun. Guardians of the South, Elementals of the South, Bridget of the Sacred flame of life, We call you now to help us in our circle, To protect and guide. Be with us now! Still further South, the spiral goes To lands where God/dess mystery knows That Yule, to us, is Litha there. And South Cross rules the sky and land. This is the wonder of year's wheel - Yule/ Litha does the other conceal. And both exist at the same time As specified by the Divine. Further cast the spiral's reach Extends to where the edges breach The barriers between dark and sun, And the East and West are one. Jani from the West! Hail to Macha, Daughter of Ocean, We thank you for your Western light glinting on the ocean's waves. Goddess of Water as of Sun, Keeper of the the seas of the Western Quarter.... White horse galloping out of the darkness that was growing Protect us in this winter season. from the tumult of the waves. Be with us in this our working Fill us with the sea of life Hold us in the calm of your womb's waters Safe from the darkness of the winter's night. And then the spiral does conspire To both the ending and desire. Where the close of time has come To meet the growth of the new sun. from the North - Aunty Flanna: Great black Wolf of the North, Messenger of Odin and Hecate, Lord of the frozen Earth, the forests and tundra, Be welcome and present among us. Use your sharp eyes, keen ears and nose To protect us as you would your children As we celebrate and witness the rebirth of the God. Then raise your lovely, haunting voice with ours in praise of the Goddess who bore him. Aide and guide us, fur-brother Blessed be. Now the circle is complete, With pangs of new birth, song and fete, Our FarCast Circle spans the Earth As we rejoice in Sun's rebirth.
