Linda Nash Bio
Linda Nash is a senior marketing executive with over 25 years experience in
marketing, including Internet marketing. She has a proven track record of
building businesses in highly competitive environments, initiating and
applying creative solutions, successfully launching and restaging brands and
using the Internet to communicate and develop relationships.
Linda founded Steep-hill Marketing in 2000, working in the areas
of traditional and Internet marketing. She provides services in the areas of:
Marketing – business plans, brand building, advertising and
publicity, relationship marketing, positioning brands, naming new products
and line extensions
Business building – credentials presentations, opportunity
identification, prospecting and qualifying accounts
Research – focus group facilitation
Training – marketing training, innovation/brainstorming, presentation
skills
Internet - website development, relationship marketing, search engine
optimization
Linda functions as an outsourced marketing department for clients,
helping to identify business-building opportunities, secure publicity to
build company awareness, develop portals, create strategic credentials
presentations, and develop business plans. She developed websites for
companies such as The Beanstalk Group (www.beanstalk.com),
Diam International (www.diam-int.com)
and Lonza chemical company (www.lonza.com).
She was also co-founder of The Vanity, an Internet startup.
Prior to her own business, Linda was Vice President Marketing and then
Vice President Integrated Marketing with Clairol, division of Bristol Myers
Squibb. She achieved record market share for Clairol during its most
competitive era. In integrated marketing, she built a best-in-class
relationship-marketing program that significantly increased brand imagery
and purchase interest, developed a marketing training program and created
strategic partnerships between sales/media/retailers. At Clairol she entered
the venue of Internet Marketing. In 1997, the award winning Clairol website
was launched, one of the top three most visited consumer packaged goods
website.
Linda spent three years as Vice President Marketing for Redmond Products,
a fast paced, entrepreneurial family-owned business in hair care. She grew
sales 12% after five years of stagnant growth by applying strategic
disciplines to the business, identifying salient advertising, filling voids
with new products and re-engineering the product development process for
streamlined speed to market.
Linda was trained as a classic marketer at Unilever, where she spent 11
years marketing brands such as Wisk, Dove, Ponds, Cutex and Rave. While
there, she increased hair care margin 8 points and grew profits 45% with an
innovative promotion plan, grew Aqua Net 24% after 2 years of decline by
instituting strategic focus, aggressively relaunched Rave from #12 in
category ranking to #1 with product/packaging/pricing targeted to consumers’
needs, grew Pond’s 30% with trial generating techniques, developed
innovative new products, initiated Category Team Management and led the
recruiting process for MBA’s.
Linda started her career at Kayser-Roth, marketing products in the
fashion industry.
Linda is a graduate of St. Joseph’s College with an MBA in Marketing
from New York University. She was honored as a Top 10 Women in Advertising
by Advertising Age in 1988, lectured on Innovation and the Creative Process
at various universities from 1991-1995, coached Odyssey of the Mind team to
win regional competition and compete for state title in 1996, and was a
featured speaker on Relaunching Brands at the Marketing Forum in 1998.
