If you are using a wheel and tire combination whose height measures between 24.75"-25.25" (Mustang original equipment size) you can simply select the gear with the proper number of teeth from the chart on the right and then get the part number from the chart at the bottom of this page. For all other tire sizes you can input the information below and then select the gear and part number with the closest number of teeth.

Notes:

1. 7T was used in most vehicles with V-8 and T-5 transmissions from 1983-89 and 1996-98 Cobra with T-45 transmissions.

2. 8T was used on 1990-95 Mustang V-8 with T-5 transmissions and 1996-98 Mustang GT with T-45 transmissions.

You are using a tire with a 26.5" height with a T-5 transmission and 3.55 axle ratio. The following info. would be entered in the calculator.

  • Drive Gear Teeth = 7

  • Axle Ratio = 3.55
  • Tire Height = 26.5

The calculator gives you 18.91. Looking in the manual trans chart you find the 19 tooth gear. The complete part number would be: C0DZ-17271-B
