DAVIS
Suzie Davis KrillEE Sun Jan 19 20:39:21 1997
Hardin H. Davis. b. 11 Jul 1821 in Danbury, Stokes/Surry Co., NC, was the third and youngest child of "Billy" Davis (d. 1822 in Danbury) and Phebe Isbell (b. 1791, d. 26 Dec 1881 in Miller, MO). Hardin's brother, William Riley, and sister, Sally Elinor, moved with Phebe to Miller, MO after "Billy" died. I am trying to establish the parents of Hardin-- I know from will information that he had a brother, Evan--and from previous research he had a brother named Thomas, who moved to Overton Co., TN--cousins' moved to Miller, MO later on. I think the real clue will be in the land records-- as family tradition states that Billy's father gave him land, and slaves, including Mogna when he married. Also, the children supposedly sold land in Indiana they inherited from their Grandfather around 1850. Phebe Isbell was the daughter of Jason Livingston Isbell and Phebe Eastham. The Hickmans were also cousins of Phebe's--and many Hickman's and Isbell's intermarried. Phebe's son William Riley married Christine Hickman, and Sally Elinor married Temple Elliot Hickman. The Isbell's owned land near the Davis'--who tradition says were wealthy land owners in Surry/Stokes Co.
