I am looking for information on the HOOTS family. I have traced by great-great grandmother to Surry/Yadkin county in the early 1850's. It appears she may have been raised by a sister/aunt. I think her name was Sallie Hoots, brother Willie Hoots, possibly a sister Lydia. l think she is the Sallie MAYS that is shown in Catawba Co. Census in 1860. She married Miles HUFFMAN in 1854(?) I originally thought she was a Mays, but this Sallie Hoots at the correct age along with the brother Willie, also correct age appears under the name of Samuel Mays & Lydia Hoots Mays.

Susan Davis Robbins Fri May 9 19:07:11 1997
Looking for info. on DAVIS, William b. ca 1818 in NC, m. Rosamond ????, b. NC, probably Surry Co. ca 1819. I received e-mail in the last few weeks that seems to link Rosamond To Surry Co. as the daughter of McKinney JOHNSON, b. 1798 in Surry Co., NC m. Sarah??? In the 1850 Murray Co. GA census, William and Rosamond were listed with the following children: Isaac, b. ca 1839 in NC, m. Becky James; Patience, b. ca 1841 in NC, m. T.P.Martin; Johnathan, b. ca 1843 in GA, m. Sara Petit Drewry T., b. ca 1847 in GA, m. Mary A. Knox, and Mary, b. ca 1849 in GA. Since Mckinney and Sarah moved to Murray Co. GA in the late 1840's, it is very likely that Rosamond was their daughter. There was also a Drewry Johnson, which was the name of one of Rosamond's sons. Also listed in the Murray Co. GA 1850 census was William's mother, Nancy, b. ca 1790 in NC, and two brothers, Tom. C. and Walter K. I want to know which county William was born.
