Seeking parentage, and other info, of Mary Anne HEATH, born circa 1837 Stokes County. She married William JAMES (son of Thomas and Jane James) 27 Jun 1858 Stokes County, and died sometime after 1900. The problem is this: Mary Anne Heath was found in the home of Abram and Sallie STEVERSON Heath, but could not have been their daughter. My guess is that she was orphaned, and went to live with an uncle, as there are other young Heath children found in other households (like Tilly) in 1850. Does anyone have any idea of who her parents were, or when she died? Thanks for any help! Lisa N. Hopper

Who was the wife of William B. BOYLES (s/o John and Lucy FLYNT BOYLES)? Anna Susannah SPAINHOUR, d/o Joseph SPAINHOUR and Elizabeth SHOUSE or Susanna SPAINHOUR, d/o Johannes SPAINHOUR and Elizabeth HELSABECK? Stokes Co. marriage license shows Wm. B. I'm researching a 5th generation grandfather, WILLIAM BURRIS (1763-Ap 23,1846). I was told by a researcher that William had once lived in Stokes County before removing to Kentucky for a short period, before finally settling in Jackson Co., Ohio. I am attempting to learn where he had come from and the names of his parents. I just spend some time tracking down data about another William Burris from the adjoining county, Surry. This William from Surry County was the son of John and Esther Burris, who were Quakers. It seems an unusual coincidence, but both Williams were living in adjoining counties, and both born in the same year, 1763. I'd like for someone who has data about the Stokes County William Burris to contact me to share informations about the colonial period Burris family from North Carolina.
Paul B. Burris, South Carolina.

Looking for information on HURLEY and MABE families who lived in Stokes County around the late 1700s and migrated to Brown Co., Indiana, possibly through Ohio. The heads of Household seem to be Cornelius Hurley and Hiram Mabe. I am looking for ancestors of the two families and any other information available. Will be glad to share descendant information on both families.
