(RW Pension File S3835)Ê TN Pension Roll of 1835: THOMAS TUCKER WARREN COUNTY PRIVATE MARYLAND LINE $20.00 ANNUAL ALLOWANCE $60.00 AMOUNT RECEIVED JANUARY 6, 1834 PENSION STARTED AGE 83 Peden's book, "Marylanders to Carolina," says Thomas Tucker was born October 14, 1750 and lived in Calvert Co., at the time of his enlistment in the Revolution. After the war, he moved to Stokes County, NC for 13 or 14 years then moved to Morgan County, GA for 2 years and then to TN where he applied for a pension (S3835) on 9 Jan 1833 in Warren County, TN. This information can also be found in Peden's book "Revolutionary Patriots of Calvert and St. Mary's Co.'s, MD," which contains information on a number of other Tuckers of Calvert. Some members of the Tucker family were communicants of Christ Church Parish of Calvert and are listed in the parish registry. This is reprinted in the book "Colonial Records of Southern Maryland," by Elise Jourdan. The Calvert County Rent Rolls mention a Seaborn Tucker and a Thomas Tucker. Seaborn likely lived in the southern part of Anne Arundel since his name, and that of his children, appear in the parish register of St. James Parish (Old Herring Creek) of Anne Arundel. The name Thomas Tucker appears in this register. A Jennett Kent of Christ Church parish of Calvert County left a will dated 2 Feb 1757 and proved 25 Feb 1757 that mentioned John Tucker, son of my son James, and THOMAS TUCKER, son of Derumble [Derumple] Tucker, deceased. Records show that Dorromple or Dalrymple etc. Tucker died in Calvert some time before 25 Jul 1750 since there is an inventory on his estate of that date. Next of kin named were John Games and Frances Games. Martha Tucker was named administratrix since he presumably died intestate (no will). His descendants live mostly in Forsyth and Guilford Counties in NC. Spouse: DAR records say Nancy Ann Mitchell, LDS records say Nancy Sapp. Coincidentally Jesse Sapp applied for Rev Pension on same date and place as Thomas Tucker. Jesse fought same place and time as Tucker. Was Jesse a bro-in-law, relative or friend? This same Sapp line ended up in the part of White Co TN that later became SW Cumberland Co. TN in 1856. George Tucker b. Bet. 1760 - 1770 was "on the waters of Hickory Valley" area of White Co. TN by 1817. Thomas and his wife Peggy settled first in the Belew's Creek section of Stokes (now Forsyth) Co. and moved later to the community of Walkertown. Family legend has it that Thomas was heartbroken after his wife's death and he wandered around hunting and trapping, eventually settling in TN where he lived his remaining days with a son. Your Benjamin's brother, Francis, is my ancestor. Francis moved to Moravia, Iowa where he farmed and eventually died there. Some of his descendants are still in that area. Francis' sons returned to NC and settled in Forsyth and Guilford counties. Thomas and Peggy deeded a portion of their land in what is now Walkertown, NC for Love's Methodist Church to be built on the condition that only a Methodist would ever preach there! Peggy is buried in an unmarked grave in the church yard. Thomas left that area in the early 1800's but before he left, he deeded most of his property to his sons.
