| Exam #3 |
On August 6, 1998 we heard Struttbaby's heartbeat. It was strong and fast. 156 bpm. The Mid-Wife said that 125-160 was the good range. Ashley has gained 5 pounds.
The old wives-tale is a fast heartbeat means a girl.
| Exam #4 |
On September 3, 1998 we heard Struttbaby's heartbeat again. It's still strong and fast. Ashley has gained 8 lbs., for a total of 13 lbs.
According to the Mid-Wife we should be going through growth spurts.
| Exam #5 |
On October 6, 1998 we heard Struttbaby's heartbeat again. All is doing well. Struttbaby is growing, although Ashley lost 5 pounds.
The Mid-Wife said as long as we don't loose any more weight on our next visit we would be just fine. We also just returned from our trip to San Francisco. I think we must have walked about 100 miles or so... One more month until our final trimester.
| Exam #6 |
On November 3, 1998 we heard Struttbaby's heartbeat again. It's starting to slowdown a little to 136 bpm. This is normal as he/she gets bigger. Ashley gained 8 pounds, for a total of 16 lbs. to date. Ashley also passed her Gestational Diabetes screening. Although they did notice that her Iron was low and have given her some supplements.
We have started our final trimester. I'm happy to say that our nursery is completed, with 3 months to spare. We're stocking up on Pampers and the basic baby supplies. This weekend we will be attending our first class, Breast-Feeding. Now that we are in our final Trimester, we will see the Mid-Wife every 2 weeks.
| Exam #7 |
On November 17, 1998 we heard Struttbaby's heartbeat again. It's back up to around 150 bpm. Ashley gained 3 pounds, for a total of 19 lbs. to date.
Our Mid-Wife informed us that we should discontinue any travel after our 30th week. We have a vacation planned for the Thanksgiving holidays. It's actually our 1st anniversary. We will be taking a very long road trip to Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando. Then to Disney's Vero Beach resort in Florida. Then to gamble at Treasure Bay in Biloxi Mississippi. This is our chance to win big and finance Struttbaby's future. I'm a little concerned about spending 28 hours in the car with a pregnant wife. I'm sure we will be making many stops along the way.
| Exam #8 |
On December 1, 1998 we heard Struttbaby's heartbeat again. It's still up around 160 bpm. Ashley gained 4 pounds, for a total of 23 lbs. to date. The Mid-Wife expects to see her gain another 10 pounds before were done.
Although the vacation was quite nice, as you can expect the road trip was hell. I do not recommend for any pregnant person to take a road trip longer than few hours. Biloxi didn't pay off as we had hoped, but the casinos only made off with about $50 of our money. Childbirth preparation class is this weekend. We are scheduled for Friday night and all day Saturday. This should be very informative.
| Exam #9 |
On December 15, 1998 we heard Struttbaby's heartbeat again. He/She must have been sleeping. It was around 139 bpm. Ashley gained 1 pound, for a total of 24 lbs. to date. At our next visit they are going to do a test for Group B strep.
Ashley has started to notice her Braxton Hicks contractions. As expected, our Child Birth Preperation class was very informative. Before the class Ashley was pretty sure about having an epidural. Now she just going to wait and see what happens at the hospital...
| Exam #10 |
On December 29, 1998 we heard Struttbaby's heartbeat again. He/She is still going strong. Ashley was tested for Group B strep and her results were fine. Her stomach was measuring small and the mid-wifes would like us to have a BPP. This is a very comprehensive ultra-sound. We are scheduled for the BPP on 1/4/99.
We stayed home for Christmas, since the Mid-Wives didn't want us to travel. Christmas was great, Struttbaby even received many gifts. It's about time to go shopping for a Suburban...
