Thomas's Casual Introduction

Current Endeavors

At present I am happily employed in a contract position within General Electric Power Systems. Power Systems deals with the manufacture, sales, and maintenance of everything to do with generating power worldwide. My function is to support the 400+ PC Software, Hardware and Mainframe applications that the company uses on a regular basis. My current slogan is: If a General Electric employee, anywhere in the world, wants specific instructions on any matter, it's my job to try and find an answer and solution. . . Even if that means finding a tuna fish sandwich in Abu Daubi at midnight. Needless to say, I find the international contact exciting and enjoyable! From the Geothermal Engineer in Iceland with his family of four in remote isolation to the Sourcing specialist in Shanghai, each person brings their own flavor of the universe to me.

Professionally, I am striving to obtain Oracle and SQL certification. My hope is to make my career comfortably and completely portable to any location this world has to offer while enriching my knowledge and experience in other areas of my life. Specifically, my interest in Domestic and International Political Science, Public Administration, and History. One day, in the not so distant future, I hope to merge my interests and skills into a complete well-rounded package.

I hold a number of college degrees and may, one day, go back to fulfill my desire for a Masters Degree in Public Administration and Public Policy. For more information on that subject wander through my online resume.

About Myself

I was born in the State of Washington, Northwestern United States on November 2, 1963. I am 6 feet tall and keep my weight steady at or below 190 lbs. I have hazel eyes and the smallest dash dark red in my brown hair.

My favorite reading hasn't changed much over time and still centers around the reference and non-fiction related to my education and profession. However, I'm not completely housebound and tend to get out and about to visit the botanical gardens, museums, and explore the local area for it's subtle and treasured hideaways and restaurants. When the season inspires, I dabble in the art of pumpkin carving and perfume making.

I am very fond of Starbucks Coffee Shops, All great Chocolates, and Oriental cooking. I rarely partake of spirits but when I do I prefer a good bottle of wine or brew.

I enjoy staying in touch with current events both domestic and abroad as best I can. I ponder what politicians and experts have to say on the events of the day and try my best to derive possible solutions and/or outcomes based on the history of previous events. This particular activity enriches my interest in history, geography, and demography . . . I enjoy listening and understanding differing and informed points of view.

I strongly believe that everyone should know something of their family roots.  Knowledge of ones family history lends strength to the idea that one is never alone.  Of all the endeavors mankind has survived over the ages, remember that you are a survivor of a long chain of human events.  Take pride in that fact!  Your forefathers withstood famine, plague and war to bring you to this point in time!  Following this line of thought I've entered some interesting info about the family name. Just hit the book to open it up.Icon Link to Bennett History
