About Me

I was born in Houston, Texas in September of 1973 and spent my entire childhood there. In 1991, I graduated from Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and went to the University of Houston, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in the fall of 1996. In the fall of 1997, I moved to Austin and began graduate studies at the University of Texas. After two years of graduate school, I began working as a development review planner (read: zoning bureaucrat) for the City of Denton, Texas in June of 1999. I finally received a Masters in Science in Community and Regional Planning degree in December of 1999, when I completed my professional report. Lori and I spent three years living north of Dallas while I worked for Denton, but after she graduated from the University of North Texas we decided to move back to Houston. We did so in May of 2002, and plan to remain here for the foreseeable future.

After enduring years of griping by both of our parents, Lori and I finally got married in July of 2003. Our first child, Kirby, arrived in August of 2004. I currently work for a large transportation engineering and planning firm, and I enjoy my job. Lori and I recently bought a house, which is in the same neighborhood where I grew up.

The photograph is me at Lori's parents' house in northwest Houston, drinking a Shiner Bock and petting Cash, their dog. Cash was one of the few dogs I actually liked. Unfortunately, she's no longer with us.
