Astro Images

These images were taken through a 12.5" Dall-Kirkham telescope on a Schaefer mount. The images were photographed using a Nikon Coolpix 995 camera with a Scoptronics adaptor and a Scoptronics 24 mm eyepiece. These pictures were taken using partial or complete magnification with the Nikon zoom lens. The shutter was set maually (typically 1/15 to 1/2 of a second) and the autofocus was used. The the Jupiter image was taken April 21, 2002. It is the raw jpeg files as produced by the camera, with level adjustment, croping and file size reduction for posting on the web. The moon shots were taken May 21, 2002 in black and white mode, and they were processes with level adjustment and unsharp mask in photoshop. The Saturn image was taken September 11, 2002 and includes level adjustment, croping and web optimization. These are all single images. Someday I will figure out how to stack them.

Let me know what you think.
