I developed the 'Focusing' technique that is outlined in chapter one  of this book after returning home from an intensive color training course in London.   It  incorporates meditative and contemplative practices called 'Spiritual Exercises' with a technique I learned  in the book called "Focusing"  by Eugene T. Gendlin, PH.D.   My technique  a  'hybrid' of both  of these practices.   It blends the physical experiences we are having  with spiritual insights we have through meditation and contemplation. We can then put a 'word' that matches that experience.     The whole premise of this book is to first experience a specific color hue spiritually and then to be able to verbalize it's quality after we feel it's energy in our physical form.  For example red is "beautiful."  Red is "warm."  Once you are in tune with a color's basic essence (quality) you have the foundation for wellness and balance.  You will begin to see and experience color in a whole new 'light'!

It is alright to be skeptical.

Direct experience is the only way to know from your heart if something is true.  It may seem to you that the declaration  'color is the only energy that keeps our physical forms alive' is ostentatious  But how are you going to know unless you actually experience this energy directly.  "Focusing " will help you do this. Actually we are 'focusing ' in some way in every moment.  Doing it with clarity and intention is the difference.

The following is a step-by-step outline of FOCUSING. Read it over a few times and then begin. Soon you will be doing this with ease.

Step 1

Get yourself into a comfortable position either sitting or lying down.

Step 2

Take in a few deep breaths and see yourself exhaling any accumulated stress.

Step 3

Put all of your present concerns and distractions on a mental shelf.

Step 4

Make the intention that you will be meeting with a specific color energy or hue. At this time you may visualize yourself inhaling this color. On your exhalation you can SAY the word 'Hue'. Do this breathing exercise several times until you feel yourself become relaxed.

Step 5

Without expectations, scan your body and feel what ever is presented.

Step 6

Say out loud any words that come to you that ‘match’ the physical feelings you are having.

Step7

Acknowledge that what you are experiencing is your direct communication with that particular color energy.
