I don't want to sound abusive, but this is bullshit. To say that theology
is fundamental to _human_ nature is like saying it is fundamental for
dogs to like human beings. Religion has existed for a long long time.
That doesn't make it any more inherent in the human psyche than the fact
that we've been wearing furs on our bodies makes the wearing of animal
skins inherent.
As far as I'm concerned, the belief in a god or gods is a weakness, like
selfishness, jealousy, pride, etc. It is something that can be overcome in
the psychological evolution of man as a species.

What the hell does _that_ mean? I'm a proclaimed athiest and freethinker.
I'm exploring my own spirituality, and I am a firm believer in the
NONexistence of a supreme being. I find the concept ludicrous and
eminently explicable as the result of paranoia, vanity, fear and other
human weaknesses. We all would like there to be a big Dad in the sky that
will give us paradise forever with no aging or death if we only know how
to ask for it or how to gain his favor. It seems really transparent
unless you "need" it (which is another way of saying that you succumb to
the weakness necessary to accept it as a reality template.)
And pointing out that many people who don't rationally believe in God
have wished fervently for one at some traumatic time in their lives
doesn't prove anything except that people want things to be easier than
they are sometimes. Big deal.

You're right. One is a dangerous myth, the other is a dangerous
institution.
No thanks to both of them. I don't trust in God, and I don't want a
stupid, inaccurate, superstitous blanket statement on money. Not that I'm
_that_ in love with money, either.
