TP's extensive Physical Testing laboratory is located in Conyers, Georgia. The lab has grown with TP and expands staff, equipment and facilities constantly to meet the demand for accurate third party testing and test witnessing both in the U.S. and abroad. Projects handled by this group may be as simple as a moisture content check or as complicated as a complete building codes approval and quality control system. Most importantly, Physical Testing has become the backbone supporting Timber Products, machine stress rated lumber, structually jointed lumber, and engineered wood services.

Long-Term Loading Frame

The Physical Testing lab maintains capabilities for testing full-size tension and bending specimens as well as a full range of small, clear specimen tests based on ASTM D 143 and D 198 among other industry standards. The Physical Testing lab has the ability to perform long term creep-rupture tests on composite lumber products. Panel products testing capabilities include visual grading, and many wood-based and non-wood panel tests for basic properties such as internal bond, uniform load and racking loads as in ASTM tests D 1037 and E 72. Engineered wood products demand testing and quality supervision to a wide variety of standards and the Physical Testing division tests and/or witnesses most of them. Products that Physical Testing work with include end-jointed studs, trusses, wood based I-beams, scaffold plank, laminated logs, laminated veneer lumber, and MSR lumber. Adhesive testing capabilities compliment Physical Testing's glued wood products testing.

Testing services are not limited to the laboratory. Much of Physical Testing work requires working at production facilities to improve or document testing and quality control. Tests of products in services are conducted for buyers, sellers, and producers. Physical Testing provides services to the public and industry alike where impartial, expert testing, or observation are required.
