The Calhoun-Gordon County Airport Authority, along with Airport Managers Dwight Albritton and Janet Oglesby welcome all pilots and visitors to the Tom B David Airport located in the City of Calhoun, Georgia lying in Gordon County and the Coosa Valley region of northwest Georgia. The airport is located south of the city along federal highway 41, eight ground minutes from downtown Calhoun. It is also located fifty miles north of Atlanta and serves as a feeder airport to Atlanta's Hartfield-Jackson International Airport. The Coosa Valley region is noted for its carpet and supporting industries. The airport is named after Tom B David, who served as the airport's first chairman of the governing authority. The Airport has under gone major facilities improvements. They include the construction of a million dollar terminal building, which provides a comfortable, professional pilot lounge, flight planning room, rest rooms, a meeting room, lobby, and administrative offices. The terminal is Internet ready and features a second level observation deck to better view flight operations. Additional improvements include the resurfacing, lengthening, and widening of the runway, a modern card-ready fuel storage and dispensing system, and additional large and small hangars. Next stage improvements consist of resurfacing and expansion of airport ramp parking, and construction of additional hangars. Fuel is available for turbine and reciprocating engines. Two airport courtesy cars, private leasing and taxi services are available. A mix of hangars insure adequate space for commercial, business, private, and recreational flight operations. Flight training and aircraft maintenance services are located on the airport. An annual airport open-house, fly-in, and good-neighbor day is held in the fall. The airport is in Class E air space providing a lighted 6000 x 100 foot hard surface runway supported by UNICOM radio, instrument landing systems, an Airport Weather Observation System, and terminal facilities.
