Will's health quickly deteriorated after he was readmitted to the hospital in late June 1994. His central IV lines developed blood clots. In August, some of these clots (emboli) broke free and went to his brain causing strokes and seizures. This picture was taken in the PICU after a spinal tap while Will is undergoing an electroencephelogram (EEG).
