Atlanta
Chapter 211 - Georgia

Prior to the creation of Chapter 49 in Atlanta, there was an "Old Timer’s Radio Club" consisting of a few active members in the Atlanta area. Once the QCWA chapter was created in April 1970, most of the members of the "Old Timer’s Club" joined, thus helping launch the newly formed QCWA Chapter. Originally it was designated as Chapter 41 but that became inactive. Later we were re-designated as Chapter 49 after our re-birth in 1976 through the efforts of K4HYY, W4JM, and K4VN. Shortly thereafter, K4VN later activated a Chapter SSB net which further helped our local image and continuing growth.

Chapter 49’s membership base now extends well beyond the metro-Atlanta area. We have grown into a strong, active, and viable radio club. Chapter 49 regularly has: two (2) weekly nets (SSB and FM), quarterly membership meetings, and quarterly newsletters. Chapter 49 also has a reputation and image for being actively involved in and supporting various metro-Atlanta amateur radio activities.

For example, our Chapter regularly participates in and supports the popular annual Atlanta Hamfest by having a Chapter booth for the purposes of recruiting for and promoting QCWA.

Finally, Chapter 49 is a STRONG supporter of QCWA National and provides input and assistance when and where necessary to further support of and for amateur radio.

Quarterly Chapter 49 meetings offer a variety of presentation subjects and topics . . . all interesting. Here are members and visitors viewing antique Heath equipment on display at a meeting.
