A 3/4" socket set did the job to remove the nuts holding the head on.

The old compression ring in the # 1 cylinder had between 90 and 100 thousands end clearance.

After a compression check I decided to take the head off and evaluate the cylinder walls.  The manifold had a leak on the exhaust side and either the head has to come off or everything on top of the tractor needs to come off.

With the head pan off I could tell the there wasn't a lot of rust.  A 3/4" socket set did the job to remove the nuts holding the head on.  I decided to send the head out and have the valves ground.
