Canterbury Cup (May 27-29, 2000)

• The Quest finished the U-14 year with the Canterbury Cup tournament. The tournament was hosted by our own United Soccer Club and took place over the Memorial Day weekend (May 27-29).

The Quest was in the U-14 Athena "Argentina" division, which consisted of six teams divided into two brackets:

Teams played a "round-robin" schedule of three games, one against each opponent in their bracket and one "cross-over" game against a team from the other bracket. We drew a very tough schedule of three strong Athena "A" level teams. We didn't come away with any wins, but the Quest played with enthusiasm and spirit throughout the tournament.

United Quest White and Tophat 04 Gold won their brackets to advance to the final, with the Quest winning 2-1 to earn the tournament championship.

Vulcan Cup (March, 2000)

• The Quest played their second tournament of the spring when they headed to Birmingham, Alabama for the inaugural Vulcan Cup tournament over the weekend of March 11-12, 2000. The tournament was hosted by the Mountain Brook Soccer Club.

We played in the U-14 Athena division (top competitive level), group A, along with the Alabama Angels '86 (from the host club) and the Germantown Fury (Memphis area).

Heavy rains on Friday night and Saturday morning caused schedule problems. Fields were closed Saturday morning, so games were rescheduled for the afternoon and shortened into "mini" games with 20- or 15-minutes halves. On Saturday, the Quest tied the Alabama Angels 2-2, then lost 3-0 to the Germantown Fury. The Angels beat the Fury 1-0, which knocked the Quest into Sunday's consolation game against the Attack '86 White. The weather cleared by Sunday, and the Quest finished with a dominating 4-0 in a full game (30-minute halves).

Concorde Challenge Cup (February, 2000)

• The Quest started their spring 2000 season with the Concorde Challenge Cup tournament over the weekend of February 26-27, 2000.

We were in the U-14 Athena Silver division (top competitive level), group B, along with Peachtree City Lazers White, UGSA Twisters (Greenville, SC) and WGSC Herricanes Red.

The Quest won one and lost two during group play. The Quest played well in the win and had some excellent moments in one of the losses. The Quest didn't have much of the play at all in the other loss. The goal of this tournament was to play some tough competition early to get ready for our second season in Athena "B". The Quest showed promise against teams who have much more competitive experience. The Quest aren't "there" yet, but the team keeps moving in that direction.

Top Gun 99 (November, 1999)

• We played in our first-ever out-of-state tournament when we went to Pensacola, Florida for the Top Gun '99  tournament. This tournament was hosted by the Pensacola Samba Soccer Club.

We didn't come away with any wins, but we competed on even terms with the Red Star team and the Mandeville Lakers (who both advanced to the championship match), and we dominated Slidell United. But our offense wasn't quite clicking, and as they say, you can't win if you don't score.

The Atlanta Cup (September, 1999)

• We played in the Atlanta Cup over the Labor Day weekend. The Quest was eliminated after two tough 4-0 losses on Saturday, but the girls shook that off and played an excellent game in their 3rd match on Sunday, falling 1-0 on a late goal. Click here for a complete tournament report.

Metro North Classic (August, 1999)

• The Quest made their first official U-14 appearance in the Metro North Classic during the last weekend in August. The Quest won their first game, but lost their next two games and were eliminated. Click here for a complete tournament report.
