Fall 1998:

We finished the fall 1998 regular season with a record of 4 wins and 5 losses. This gave us 20 points (5 points for a win, 2 points for a tie), which put us in a tie for 5th place out of 10 teams. This was our first season in the tougher Athena "C" division, and our 5th place finish qualifies us to stay in the "C" division for the spring. Congratulations, girls!

We held a raffle for Publix gift certificates as a tournament fund-raiser. The winners were Chelsea Willhite (ticket sold by Meghan) and the Scheiber family (ticket sold by Christina). We were able to raise over $450 toward tournament entry fees! The team thanks Carol Morello for her work in organizing the fund raising event, and we thank Publix for their generous donation of both $100 and $50 gift certificates.

Soccer Camp: In preparation for the fall season, the Quest attended a week-long "team camp" in early August. Fifteen of our players were able to attend. One of the highlights was during the last match of the week, when the girls won headbands by meeting a challenge of completing 8 or more consecutive passes at least 3 separate times.

Dribble-a-thon: United held its first "dribble-a-thon" on Saturday, August 8th. This was a fund-raiser that involved getting pledges to dribble a soccer ball over a 5 kilometer course. Jessica, Jillian, Margaret, Alex, Katie and coach Ward took part, and all completed the course. Each participant received a special dribble-a-thon t-shirt. Katie won a prize by gathering the most pledges, and Jillian won a prize by collecting the highest dollar volume of pledges.
