Frederick Lanier b. circa 1745 Brunswick County, Virginia, d. 1800-1810
in Pendleton
District, S. C. His wife's name is unknown, but it is possible that she was Mary Nance,
as her sister
Sarah married John, brother of Frederick; also the name Mary occurs frequently
in the family. He was hard to
follow; he was in Duplin County, N. C. in 1764, Bertie County (N. C.)
1777, in Waren County, N. C. in Nov. and Dec. 1787.
He received a Revolutionary Voucher,
No. 1638 from the Halifax District, N. C. for L 14-15,
not stated whether for military duty or aid
to the War. He was living when his father wrote his will Sept. 1790,
but did not attend the Estate
Sale. In the late 1790's he bought land in the Pendleton District of S. C., and appeared in the
1800 census with a wife born before 1755, living 1810, two sons, three daughters.

As
a child, Ezekiel lived with his
grandfather,
Benjamin Lanier; his uncle, Robert Lanier,
was
his Bondsman in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. In 1810
Ezekiel
Redding and many others migrated from Virginia to
Preble
County, Ohio. He settled in what later became Lanier
Township
in honor of Alexander Chalmers Lanier who had settled
in
Eaton, the county seat, a few years prior to the Reddings.
In
1850 Ezekiel Redding and family moved into northwestern
Indiana
on the Michigan border.
Both
he and his wife are buried in Dayton, Michigan.

Amon's first three children were born in Texas, and the last three
children
were born in Louisiana. He
returned to Texas about 1900, where he is found in the census of
Coryell
Co. Tx.. He was applying for
his pension records about that time and he died in 1906 in Gustine,
Comanche
Co., Texas. It
is believed that he joined the the Army of the Confederacy in Eufaula,
Barbour Co., Alabama. He
served the C. S.A. for 3 years, 7 months,and was injured while in
Atlanta, Georgia on Sept 1864. Reuben
F. Kolb's Co. of Artillery, William's Battalion.Fought and was injured
in Atlanta, Georgia in Sept.
1864. William T. Sherman attacked Atlanta 1st of Sept.
1864.
Amon had the toes of one foot
shot off by enemy fire and his hearing was severely damaged by bursting
bombs.
It is said that at one time he had a small Rice Plantation in
Louisiana.
It was sold and he returned to Kileen,
Texas. He and his wife died in Comanche, Texas.

Both died the night they returned from their honeymoon. They drowned
in severe
flood of the South Leon River in Gustine, Comanche County,
Texas. A
headrise (wall of water) from rain upriver hit their home.
