Trailblazer's Leather N Lace

Whelped: November 16, 1997

Introducing, "Stevie". Stevie was bred and whelped by my dear friend, Judy Mears of Trailblazer Samoyeds. She is a product of Ch. Starlite's Bear In Mind - "Indy" x Ch. Trailblazer's Allure - "Allie". Click to see Stevie's four generation Pedigree. She was one of a litter of ten adorable puppies filled with curiosity and vigor. Judy gave me the most precious gift of watching these puppies mature by inviting weekly puppy visits from the tender age of three weeks. Stevie was the green ribbon girl and I admit to letting her capture my heart from nearly the first day I played with puppies on the floor of Judy's home.

Thus far, we've only been out for shows on a couple of occasions - the National Specialty and the Denver Regional Specialty. Stevie is a slow maturer, and at age 2, she is really coming into her own. Soon, we'll be competing in the conformation ring. As a diversion, I introduced Stevie to weight pull. With her second time out, she pulled about 530 lbs. That's well over 14 times her body weight in an ill-fitting harness. We've ordered a custom fit harness and hope to be out on the weight pull track in the near future.

At 27 months, Stevie got her pictures taken at Mesa Veterinary Hospital. We also decided to go forth with the PennHip readings as well. The results of the PennHip study were the first to come back and I was absolutely ecstatic to learn that she scored in the 90th percentile - the top 10% of the Samoyed breed. The icing on the cake was the certification received from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals - EXCELLENT - SA-12265E27F. And, perhaps, the best news of all, Stevie was the fourth reading and the fourth OFA Excellent among her littermates. The credit goes to her breeder, Judy Mears, and sire owner, Lia Benson.

This is Stevie at 11 weeks and her first pictures after arriving home. Pay little attention to the angelic appearance as she was Kodi' worst nightmare... > First Photo of Stevie
First Photo of Stevie < Taken at 12 weeks on the deck as I snapped the shot just before she jumped from the whiskey barrel.
Photo taken at about 14 weeks and Stevie's first time on the grooming table. Which, incidentally, is not Stevie's favorite place. Like her dam, it's a major struggle clipping nails. > Stevie on Grooming Table

Stevie has also demonstrated a knack for agility. She is by far, the most agile dog I've come to know. She's an excellent mover. As well as being structurally correct, Stevie has the intellect that balances the entire package. She's my girrrrl!!
