The Words of Despothes He Who Walks Between Prophet Herald Current Storyline (storytelling format) |
Dialogue 51 February 6, 2002 Herald nods at those present KatLongfellow: Greetings Herald Herald nods at KatLongfellow Herald: Gather the faithful for I have words from my Lord. Vaul: I am seeing many that aren't on m'lord, but others are being summoned Herald looks at Vaul Herald: These are times of turmoil and the Lords speak strange words for reasons unknown at this time, their words are not clear. Hear these words for they are from the Lord of Balance. Refrain from your chatter until I have finished. A conundrum for the faithful. Look to the Large ones for that which you seek. Look to your brothers and sisters for wisdom in 3 parts. Taverns received a clue when patrons saw Peons Rend Ale. Heed these words for they are the truth of Balance. Now you may speak again Vaul: Wisdom in 3 parts, do you mean the three faiths? or the classes of the land that bring their skills to battle? Herald: Who knows the ways of the Lords Elmer: Herald, do you know if many more copies of the books that Enid sent remain to be found as yet? KatLongfellow: Herald, if I drink a few ales will the message be clearer? Herald: All of the Words of Light have not yet been retrieved Perhaps KatLongfellow, perhaps Vaul: These large ones m'lord, will they be in the same place as we are currently finding those from the mists, or are they now encroaching on other lands? Valanthe: Herald...may I ask a question? Herald: Vaul use your instinct and your wits to gather the meaning of the Lord's words Valanthe your question? Valanthe: Thank you, Herald...a few days ago, on Virulent's last visit...he said that there was another creature being sent to learn from us...has this creature left the mists yet that we know of? Herald: Valanthe that which comes from the Mists arrives in its own time, but coming they are. Elmer: Herald, any idea of when the other mists are to weaken such as they have in the Deep Desert? Herald nods Herald: Be ever vigilant for the barriers of the Mists will be breached in many places. My time is ended, I must return. top Dialogue 52 February 8, 2002 Herald: Beware those that Seek. That which was large may soon be small, seek that which seeks. When the proper time has come I will bring the seer back. Though it be deaf and dumb and blind, It will always relate truth. Present this when you next come and perchance the Seer will share a vision of that which is yet to come. top Dialogue 53 February 10, 2002 RainbowWarrior pays his respects to the Lord of the Sceptre. Herald nods to RainbowWarrior Herald: Gather to me the followers for I have words to give. RainbowWarrior: I shall help gather the citizens of the Realm. Herald: I come this night seeking that which was tasked. Who amongst you has brought this to me? ZuZu: Wooo I am free! Herald: I ask again, my patience shortens. Vaul: I fear that there was confusion over the task Herald, and your words were lost from the last visit Calmiche: I am sorry my lord, but I am unaware of what was tasked. ZuZu: I do some times. Depends on whats in it for me. Herald: It is only because you are in favor with the Lord that I do not see to your immediate discomfort. ZuZu dances around and sings a song. Herald: You will be surprised to know that your attendants have been doubled so unscheduled escapades will be greatly diminished. ZuZu: Well thats just great. Its hard enough getting past them now. Herald: Your duties lie not here Handmaiden. I will summon you when you are needed. ZuZu tugs on Herald's robe. ZuZu: Hey I have a question for you. Herald: Return to your prayers Child of Vision. ZuZu pouts. Herald: If none have brought that which I asked, I will once again task the followers. RainbowWarrior: Herald, what was tasked of us? Whitt: Please, give us the task. Herald: When the proper time has come I will bring the seer back. Though it be deaf and dumb and blind, It will always relate truth. Reflect on these words for it is only this that will bid the Seer to foresee. RainbowWarrior: We shall not fail, Herald. Is this an item that we must find? An item that the seer uses? Herald: Look to my words for the answer to your questions. Now I leave you displeased, as will be my Lord. top Dialogue 54 February 12, 2002 Herald nods to DuckieofRubber Herald: Please gather the faithful. Hail Lopansa Lopansa: Herald greetings to you. Herald: I welcome those of Balance, and those of the Dark and the Light. It is a time for cooperation, It pleases the Lord of Balance. These things I say for it is the wish of my Lord. The Child of Vision is much like those that lived here long ago when many could look through the veils of time. There are but a few of her kind left. It is for this reason that my Lord has chosen to keep her safe from those who would use her foresight to attain their Evil ends. Were the visions of the Handmaiden to fall to the forces of the Mists, the land would surely fall. And although a bit "headstrong" at times, be assured that the favor of the Lord falls upon her. As does mine, she "escapes" only with my unspoken blessing. Lopansa listens. Herald: I ask if any amongst you has brought what was tasked? THEGOD2: I believe I have Madiison: I have. Elmer: Herald, I handed you what I think it is already. Herald: I will see what you have brought THEGOD2 JaraHamee walks into the temple, looking tired. Elmer: a Mirror from his daughters shop is what I gave. THEGOD2: a green token Herald: Alas it is not the mirror which reflect the future. Nor is it green Lopansa holds JaraHamee up so he may rest. Herald: I know the young one gave a hint and she was correct. Shine brightly it must so that the Seer can peer through the windows of time. It is only with this can I bid the Child of Vision to look to the future. Trancekuja: Herald could it be the token of enid? Herald: Trancekula it is not the Symbol of the Lord of Light. All that you present is well received but still it is not which you must retrieve. Your quest must bear fruit for the vision to be given. THEGOD2: maybe a better clue? Lopansa watches as items gather. Herald: If I could but instruct you in this matter I surely would. This I am bid by my Lord, it is as he instructs. All that you need is on my words. Valanthe: Herald...check what I have given you... Herald: It lies not in what was given. My Lord has instructed me to give yet one ore hint. Adroit you must be and a master of the skill to retrieve that which shines. The older amongst you will find it difficult to retrieve. Those who are new will have an easier task. Jerk: I cant get it unless I buy it, whatever it is. Madiison: How many do you need M'lord? Herald: There is no price for the future and Just one will do. Trancekuja: Elmer I believe it is Jeweled dagger but I don't have one anymore. I have lost it in the rubble of my house. Herald: Trancejuka seek not the dagger for it will not open the window. Look to my words and heed them for the future holds many interesting things. I tire now and must return to his side. top Dialogue 56 February 14, 2002 WarriorGiant: Herald.. I was rude to you a few days ago. Please forgive me, I was under stress. Herald: Yes WarriorGiant? I understand AdamZ: We have heard about the new item we must get for ZuZu. Herald: I will speak of that AdamZ: Whitt is on his way...Would you like me to summon others? Herald: Please do I have words to speak. Herald looks and nods Herald: Are there more to come? Herald welcomes all that are here. WarriorGiant: You may speak if you are in a hurry Herald, I am taking what you say down. Herald: That is good WarriorGiant - these words need to be scribed. I welcome those of Balance, and those of the Light and the Dark. All are welcome here. I wish to speak to you about the Handmaiden of Despothes. The Child of Vision may well be the last of her kind. The Lord of the Scepter keeps her close to protect her from those forces that would seek to learn from her visions. But she is young and maturing each day. Soon she will be venturing out and around the Land. Her impetuousness may cause her to stray into peril. My Lord bids you protect her, for she is most cherished. Do this for the Lord of the Balance. We do not know if more exist, but none have been seen for many years. My young charge sometimes hears things not meant for her ears. And in the enthusiasm of her youth, she cannot help but speak these secrets at the first opportunity. Today however, was not one of those times. I understand that the Child of Vision has hinted of what might to be the key to the next vision. Forgive her, but alas she misleads you. In truth she once heard of this heirloom and desires it for herself. It is the folly of youth. My Lord has bid me tell you this. Seek that which is made from wood. Fill it with dread. It is this that will provide the next key. I cannot say more on this subject at this time, but know this. Each Vision from the Seer will relate more and more information. Perform this task and the Seer's next vision will surely provide an interesting look into that which will come. Stronger she becomes, but for now, each look through the veils of time drains her severely. My Lord will allow only visions that will not harm her, so they must be spread over time. If you wish to see what is to come, then pursue the task. Worry not, for the Seer is not strong enough to return this day. My time here is always limited. It always takes great effort to maintain my presence in the plane My Lord calls and I humbly obey. top Dialogue 57 February 16, 2002 Herald: Welcome to all, you are all welcome here. It is with sadness that I must relate to you the following. The young Seer is still weak from the vision of the two nights past. She will recover fully but her strength must rise before she once again looks through the veils of time. Fear not for her though, for this is her destiny, and my Lord will see no harm comes to her. How goes the search for that which will allow her next vision? Valanthe: Herald...we have an item that may be that which is sought...may I give it to you? Herald: Valanthe it is not this servant of the Lord that must receive the results of your quest. It is the Child of Vision. THEGOD2: Can you tell us M'lord if we have succeeded in the quest? we have come up with Driftwood of the Loch Dread. Herald: THEGOD2 it would seem that you cannot fill Driftwood with the water. You may pour the water but Driftwood cannot hold the water. THEGOD2: hmmm.. very well M'lord our quest continues. Herald: When this task is completed I feel the young one will relay much awaited news. DuckieofRubber: Herald..when shall we learn of what you would not speak the other night, with the Bishop? Herald: Duckie when next the Bishop is here, we will relate the words we spoke of. Elmer: Is it then the chest with the vial of Water? Herald, we think it is the chest that contains the vial of water from Lake Dread. Bishop, the one I refer to contains: a vial of Loch Dread Water, a vial of Distilled Cobra Venom, and a Cobra Skin. Herald: I understand Elmer, but the chest is not that which is to be filled with Dread. Whitt: Ahhh.... so mayhaps the water and the item to hold it are two separate items? Herald: I leave the solving to you and your comrades. THEGOD2: M'lord can you give another clue? Herald: The time comes soon and I say that those who have patiently awaited the coming will be justly rewarded. Be they of Balance, Light, or Dark. My Lord has bid me tell you one more piece of information about the task. That which you seek is but a common item. My time grows short and I must return to my Lord. It is difficult to stay too long. I return to the Lord of Balance top Dialogue 59 February 21, 2002 Calmiche bows. Herald nods to Calmiche Herald: Welcome Son of Balance. Gather the faithful for I have words to speak. Calmiche: My lord, before you are to busy when the others arrive, I had a request. Herald: Your request? Calmiche: I would like to know more of the history of the realm than what we have. I was wondering if in the future you might reveal more to us? Herald: One day, not this one, I will list for you that which is of import about the Land. WarriorGiant: Herald, do you know if we will be getting easier ways to kill the Servants? Herald: Those that serve the Mists have grown strong and will come in even greater numbers. It may require help to overcome them. Trust in your Gods, they will not fail you. Herald looks around and sees many of the Light and the Dark Herald: I will wait no further I have words to speak. It has come to my ears that one amongst you solved the last conundrum and have found that which carried a message. My Lord is pleased that to see such nimble minds, It is good. I tell you this. The young Seer is much better and is again ready to peer into the veils of time. The Lord of the Scepter sends the following for your consideration. Seek a city where the sights are nice, and look to the place where water spouts twice. Count not on each the number of eyes But tally the count on all of the flies. Look to the place where the water meets the Land. Walk the edge but care you must take, For know you must, the tally of the Lake. Go shall you quickly to the place where my Ward's namesake wouldst sell you a Mace. Closely shall you gaze upon his face, for the number on the crown you seek, Is not the hairs upon his cheek. Find you a place that's pretty nice And hang your hat upon the wall. Do this for each place, And then have you the number all. In this place shall you find the answer you seek. When these words are solved, the Child of Vision will once again peer into the veils of time. Her visions will get clearer and clearer. Do this in the name of my Lord. All you require is in my words. On another matter, I say this to you. There lives in this land a daughter of the Old One who has passed. Though crude and crass, she has been given a remarkable gift. And had she been nurtured by those that care for the Seer, she surely would have been formidable. But even now, she can offer many bits of that which is to come. Her words are true. The Lord of Balance bids you protect her. The Witch's daughter is a valuable resource for all. Herald: There were questions? THEGOD2: Is the daughter of the witch in danger? Herald: In this time no, but those of the Mists would do her harm. Duckie your question. DuckieofRubber: It was remarked we told too soon that we had solved the last riddle... shall we not post to the Scribes area the answer? Or just pass word around to each other that it is done? Braeshan: I would think we would be doing ourselves a disservice by delaying our response...We would be denying our own growth. DuckieofRubber: It was something ZuZu commented on.. mentioned keeping it hush hush.. Herald: Alas it is indeed a contradiction, but My Lord gives these puzzles for a reason. And he wants all to help in solving the words. From the last you were told of the place where the evil ones will encroach. And I understand my young Ward has told you that there be more of those messages in that very place. She is of course correct. THEGOD2: a question if I may...Is the spot of the object the spot also spoken of as the southern without trees? the place of the breach and the last riddle. Herald: THEGOD2? It is not the same. Elmer: Herald, we were wondering, is this place in addition to the place otherwise foretold in the Far south? THEGOD2: Ok, they found a token near Enid's... but the previous statement directed us to watch for a southern breach where there were not many trees.. is this the same breach point? Herald: I have said the places of which you speak are not the same. In days not distant, I will require an accounting of those of the Balance. My Lord demands this since there is no mark. YiraDR: How shall this be done Herald? Confirmation of those known or reconfirmation of those known? Herald: Daughter of Balance I trust you will find a way. I tire and my Lord summons. I humbly comply. top Dialogue 60 February 24, 2002 Herald: Has any amongst you brought that which was tasked? Yorick: Ty3... Herald: Wait... Give them when I summon the Seer Ty3: aye...as you say Herald Herald: I will summon the young Seer and, though weak, she will once again pierce the veils of time. Give her the items Yorick: Greetings ZuZu. ZuZu: I hate that. I had a fork almost in my mouth and Whoooosh, I'm here. ZuZu eyes start to glaze over ZuZu's hands shake as she presses the tokens together ZuZu sees the tokens glow brightly ZuZu stares deep into the glow ZuZu: Of the ones you will face, some will be winged. And those fixed to the ground will be mighty. Armed as you are, you will be not a match. Pray to your Gods for the aid of their hand. ZuZu opens her eyes and looks around ZuZu: Wow that stuff Jasalva gave me works great. Ooops, did I say that. ZuZu falls to the floor and disappears Herald: You have done well, my Lord is pleased. You are demonstrating that which will be necessary. For the key to your next Vision, listen carefully. Far to the South you will see them. Of Balance they are not, but between they are caught. Hold their talisman close and Snakes will be naught. Sky and water it does not challenge, But own it does a beauty unique, not easily found is that which you seek. Some say it appeals, some say it will appease. Others simply use it, as preface to their pleas. Though this item be not colorful, When added to the others, a task completed will you feel. Solve these words for they are the key to your next Vision. What say you to this task? Yorick: We will not rest until we solve this riddle. Herald is pleased Herald: I leave you now to return to my Master's side top Dialogue 61 February 27, 2002 Herald: Has any amongst you solved the words of my visit past? THEGOD2: Hail Herald Herald nods at THEGOD2 THEGOD2: I think it to be the Mark of Duach and or a Duach crystal. Herald: Symbols of the Gods are not a part of this task. They are not the solution you seek. Be not content with the first meaning you find to the words tasked. Seldom does the solution lie where one first thinks. Do not look to find but a single solution. For you will come to know there are several parts. THEGOD2: meaning more than 2? Herald: The number is for your nimble minds to discover. Valanthe: But, these ARE items for us to find...correct? Herald: The solution to the task lies totally in the words I have spoken but..... there are items to retrieve. THEGOD2: what of the child Herald? is she well? Herald: She is well and as strong headed as ever. I'm sure she will find a way around the latest attempts to confine her. Darceia: Perhaps she'd like to visit our temple Herald: She is best served learning the ways of Balance first. I see that the Daughter of Balance doing the accounting is not present so the count must wait. THEGOD2: she is still taking it I believe Jantaro: Herald .. if it pleases you ... I think she has finished the accounting. Herald: Do you speak for her? Jantaro: No sir ... i do not Herald: I will wait then. Darceia grins at Heralds snappiness Herald looks at Darceia again Darceia looks back and smiles Herald: Children of the Dark you are all welcome here. As long as you maintain the dignity of the temple of my Master. Darceia: My apologies Herald Valanthe: Thank you, Herald...we have been instructed to assist those of the Light and Balance and we are glad to do as our Lord Duach commands... Herald: Your Lord is wise. It saddens me to see so few in the temple during the hours of light. Valanthe: Herald...the items we are seeking...are they rocks of some sort? Herald: They are that which you seek. Valanthe: Thank you... Herald: When collected they will form the key that will allow another glimpse into the veils. All you need is in the spoken words. Valanthe: I think I may have this solved by the end of the day... Herald: This task should not present too difficult a problem for those who have so rapidly discovered the others. Herald smiles Valanthe: Evil minds are cunning minds...cunning minds make for good riddle solvers... Darceia: Much creativity in the dark Herald: Cunning and creativity are much needed traits for that which is to come. You of the Dark will need them both. Perhaps the Witch's daughter will help, but only she knows when she will speak. Her help is allowed, since she walks outside the Light, Dark, and Balance. She serves all. Valanthe: Herald...Is combat necessary to find the items to the riddle? Herald nods Herald: You may have to draw a blade to solve the words, but perhaps not. Only you can tell. That too is a part of what you seek. I have given all of the help I am allowed on this day. The Lord of the Scepter bids you well in your quest. I leave you now. ~then~ Morningdove: hello herald Flamewolf: hello herald Herald nods Herald: Is there a scribe amongst you? Flamewolf: we both have done that duty. Herald: Then relay these words for my time is limited. Flamewolf: with pleasure sir Herald: My Master has bid me to return for a clarification. It was not my meaning nor my intent to let you believe that the items you seek are stones or rocks. My meaning was unclear. It was meant to convey, that which you seek is that which you seek, nothing more. Which, in itself is unclear, but intentionally so. But such is the way with the tasks of words. Because of this inexactitude, my Lord has bid me to reveal yet another fragment toward the solution. Hear this then. A blade must be drawn either in times past or in this time. For only in this way will you assemble that which you seek. It is for this I have been sent and now I must return. Questions before I return? I have a moment. TopGun4: What of Enid? does the lord of the scepter know of her peril? Herald: The Lady of Light is well by last account. Valanthe: Herald...can the items we seek be bought? or must they be found? TopGun4: must we fight to get them? Herald: Some can be bought, some must be earned. top Dialogue 62 February 28, 2002 Calmiche: Herald! Hail! The others come. Herald nods Herald welcomes all YiraDR: Greetings Herald Marbrooks: Hail Herald Herald nods to all that have just arrived Herald: We have things to discuss. Has any amongst you solved the words spoken? Yorick: I believe we are still uncertain. YiraDR: There may be an answer to the first part, Elmer of the Light also has answers. Herald: I take this silence to mean you have not. Yorick: We have ideas, but you know how those go sometimes... Marbrooks: we are assuming the first part refers to the imp bloodstone. Herald: Usually they are incorrect at first. As I have said previously, it is not of rock or stone. YiraDR: We have asked for Jasalva, the daughter of the witch, but have not found her. You suggested we seek her for more answers. Herald: Jasalva may help if you find her, and it is acceptable. Marbrooks: I have even asked Virulent and he said to look at our Life. Herald: The prophet of the Dark is wise. My Lord has bid me tell you yet another piece of the puzzle. Here is what my Lord has allowed. That which you seek is fourfold, Yet it is viewed by many as one. But, even though they are of one, four there are indeed. The answer lies fully in the words. Herald: Daughter of Balance, how goes the accounting? YiraDR: The accounting is finished Herald, as best it can be. I have posted notices on the tree in town, and sent pigeons in three waves. I have what I believe to be a true accounting. I fear some of the pigeons did not make it back, but, that is the way of life. Herald: And how will you send this information to the Lord of Balance? YiraDR: If I may approach you, I will present it to you Herald. Herald: Approach A pack engraved "Faithful of Despothes" was placed on the ground. Inside were candles engraved with the names of the followers Daughter, you have done well, my Master will be pleased. YiraDR: I am glad Herald, I hoped he would be. Herald: What more can I tell you this night? YiraDR: What ever you wish to tell us Herald. I wish to know why you tire so easily, I worry for you. Herald: As you know some exist between the mortal plane and that of the Gods, it requires great effort to maintain in one plane. Alas, I do but my Master bids me reveal only portions of the picture. The young Seer will divulge much more when the words are solved. Perhaps the words are beyond the grasp of mortals, but I have confidence you will prevail. YiraDR: I understand Herald, I am just concerned that we may lose you. Herald: My Lord protects me as he does the rest of his faithful. YiraDR: I will rest easy then Herald, you are dear to me and those of the Balance. Braeshan: And those of the Light as well. You are the middle-ground for all the faiths... and the oldest remaining voice. We would miss you. Herald: As I would miss all of you here. As you know the time draws near. Do any here know the meaning of the Path of Balance? YiraDR: Yes Herald Braeshan: ...I would think many of us. Unless we are missing something. Herald: Tell me your thoughts YiraDR: Those of the Balance are to maintain Balance within the Realm. If the light should falter, we shall aid them, and if the dark should falter we should aid them as well. Without good there cannot be evil, without evil there cannot be good, balance must prevail. Is that close? Herald: Balance is the foundation for all the Land, it will always prevail. We are the chosen to keep the Land in Balance. It is an important role to be sure. Braeshan: Well, my thoughts are probably considerably different from a true 'faithful'. Might I share my thoughts? Herald: Son of Light, please do. Braeshan: I agree with what is said... but Balance to me also represents something more esoteric. Herald: And that is? Braeshan: Being of mortals, I believe that none of us can truly exist without containing other things...For instance, I am also of darkness in some ways. And we all straddle a path that is contained of all things. And in this way, the Balance will always prevail. For it cannot be avoided. I am not truly Light...And Darceia is not truly Dark... But that we all exist in a field of grey. The world churning around itself. Herald: Wise words for a mortal, Well said. What more can I tell this eve? Braeshan: Can you perhaps shed a bit of Light, no pun intended, on the perplexity of the Goddess of Light? Herald: It pleases my Master that the disarray in the Temple of Dark has been resolved. It is a time for cooperation. Perplexity? Ahh because she is alone for now? Braeshan: BishopAlexander says that she is silent... for she is perplexed by something... I had thought she was troubled by something. Yorick: I think he refers to her seclusion, yes. Herald: It is her choice. I cannot speak for her. I'm sure that when the time is right, She will return to you. Marbrooks: The Dark prophet Virulent talked of lightning and steel and walls to break down can you elaborate. Herald: I am sure that Virulent spoke of the Thunder. It is that which is lies over the walls. Beware when you hear it for peril will surely follow. Some people started making irrelevant comments about singing at this time. Herald: If there is any singing in the temple let it be by the choir of The Lord of the Scepter. YiraDR: When shall we have the pleasure to hear this choir Herald? Herald: The time may come when these dulcet tones will reach mortal ears. YiraDR: This would be a moment to savor Herald Herald: There will be many moments to savor. First, the forces of the Mists must be vanquished. When I next return I would like to see the words are solved. Children of Balance, Light, and Dark, I must return to my Master. top Dialogue 63 March 3, 2002 Jantaro: Hail sir Herald Herald says 'Domnixali vescance ahrwihn!', pointing at Jantaro. Jantaro gains 4257HP. Jantaro prays to Despothes. Herald nods THEGOD2 bows before Herald. Herald nods to THEGOD2 Herald: Gather the faithful for I have things to say. Truest: Hail Herald Herald: Welcome to all. Jantaro: The word have been sent sir Herald. Herald: It is noted Son of Balance. I will begin. Has any amongst you solved the words? I read the silence to mean you have not. It may be that the conundrum was too difficult for mortal reasoning. There are things you should know, so agile your mind must be. But my Lord limits on what can be told this day. Best you look to the rainbow, for there you will find the way, to solve the words of enigma, and the future will ZuZu relay. That is the limit to what my Lord allows this day. Have none anything to say? If not I will take my leave. I return to my Master. ~then~ Herald: I have but a short time, but my Lord is allowing yet one more piece to the puzzle. Mind you well that Balance does not the path always mean, It can refer as well to the place that is neither one nor the other. There are some that walk between Life and Death. I expect when next we meet that one amongst you will have prevailed over the words. I cannot wait, for now I must leave. I bid you well on your quest. |
